What determines walking distances to a school?

Posted by:

The walking area is determined by measuring the shortest distance from the student's residence (end of driveway), by reasonably safe walkway, to the property of the school the student attends. The walking zone distances is established by the School Board. Currently it is one(1) mile for Grades K-12. *K-6 boundaries are often less due to traffic/pedestrian hazards. Call the transportation office at 320-370-6940 for specific address information.
