The District 742 Local Education & Activities Foundation (LEAF) announces the start of a new Activities Participation Fund.
The purpose of the Fund is to "Provide assistance to individual students who would otherwise be unable (or would face significant hardship) to participate in the student activities program due to their economic circumstances." LEAF recognizes the inherent value of participation in the academic, fine arts and athletic student activities programs and seeks to support low-income students who want to participate.
The fund seeks to help disadvantaged youth participate in the student activities programs in District 742 by covering some of the costs for physicals, essential equipment for participation, transportation and other costs directly related to individual student participation.
With the help of a $5,000 start-up gift from Liberty Bank and two recurring donors, the fund is already helping students who want to participate this fall at Apollo High School, Tech High School, Kennedy Community School, North Junior High and South Junior High School.
If you’d like to help disadvantaged youth participate in school-based Academic, Fine Arts, and Athletic Activities, contributions can be given at www.leaf742.org. Checks can be made out to “LEAF Participation Fund” and sent to: LEAF, P.O. Box 1132, St. Cloud, MN 56302. Questions can be directed to the LEAF executive director, Bruce Hentges, at email@example.com.
