Oak Hill Teacher Named Regional Honoree in Outstanding Educator Program
May 10, 2017
Tykwinski a teacher from Oak Hill Community School in St. Cloud has been named a regional honoree in the WEM Foundation’s 2017 Outstanding
Educator Awards program.
Tykwinski is being honored in the Teacher
Achievementcategory, which recognizes
exemplary teachers who support, inspire and assist students to attain greater
learning, as evidenced by student achievement.
With 13 years of teaching experience, Tykwinski is a second-grade teacher at Oak Hill. In her classroom, she includes many different body breaks
throughout the day, each with a different purpose. Some body breaks help to
refocus the mind and include calming movements and breathing techniques. While
others are meant to get the students’ bodies moving, blood pumping and minds
flowing. Tykwinski uses sign language and other signals throughout her lessons
to get children physically responding to their learning. Not only does this
keep students actively engaged, it also serves as an informal assessment for
her instruction. Read the full press release.
