North Student Takes Second Place in MDH Poster Contest

Samantha ZhengCongratulations to Samantha Zheng, an eighth grade student at North Junior High School for taking second place in the Minnesota Department of Health’s (MDH) Radon Poster contest.

Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has not held its poster contest in recent years. The contest helps bring awareness to people, particularly students, how dangerous high levels of radon can be and stresses the importance of testing and mitigating to reduce the risk.

“The Indoor Air Unit looked at 66 radon posters that were submitted by students from around the state,” says Marc Katz, MDH planner from the Indoor Air Unit. “The judges enjoyed your use of puns with your cat creativity and your excellent graphic design work. First and second place were very close, and we were all very impressed.”
