Update on Learning Models

Update on Learning Models

In response to guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health, and local health officials and based on changes in our community’s health data, we are updating our learning model plans. Our updated plans prioritize our youngest learners, as required by the Governor, along with the health and safety of our learning community. This systematic, phased approach minimizes transitions and provides the best opportunity for a sustainable, quality, educational experience for our students.

Please note the accelerated timeline for in-person learning for PK-5 on February 3 and the tentative return to hybrid learning for secondary on February 1. This is a change to the plans presented on December 16.

PK, Elementary & Alternative Sites Calendar

1/15: NO SCHOOL for PK-5 and alternative sites (transition day for staff)

1/19: RETURN to hybrid learning for PK, grades K-5, and alternative sites

1/29-2/2: NO SCHOOL for PK, grades K-5 and alternative sites (transition days for staff)

2/3: BEGIN in-person learning, Monday-Friday for grades K-5, and alternative sites

Secondary Calendar

1/29: NO SCHOOL for grades 6-12 (transition day for staff)

2/1: RETURN to hybrid learning for grades 6-12

As always, we will continue to monitor and adjust based on guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health, and local health officials. We will provide timely information to our school community including an update on January 20 regarding return to school plans. All plans are contingent on the district’s operational capacity and community health. We remain eager to get our students back in school and believe our systematic, phased approach provides the best way to achieve this goal.
