South Junior High Moon Graffiti Art Show at Waite Park Library

8th Grade art students at South Junior High School are making history happen at the library. 2019 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, and South’s art students commemorated this accomplishment by artistically interpreting NASA’s out-of- this-world achievement.

The concept for these art pieces was inspired by Jonathan Mitchell’s award-winning podcast “Moon Graffiti” as heard on the Public Radio Exchange. The art students used graphite to create Tints/Mid-Tones/Shades with an emphasis on Simulated Texture while exploring their individual creativity. There are over 100 thought-provoking art pieces on display at the Waite Park branch of the Great River Regional Library throughout the month of January.

On Thursday, January 9th from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, GRRL will host an Art Student Reception at the Waite Park library to celebrate the show.
