AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Family Night was an evening planned and prepared by AVID Elective students. Parents were given an opportunity to experience different facets of the AVID classroom. Students presented a powerpoint explaining the main components of WICOR. WICOR stands for writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading. Parents were also able to view samples of student binders and Cornell notes. AVID students presented a tutorial, so parents could become familiar with the tutorial process and its purpose. Parents were also taught how to calculate their child’s GPA. And to top off the night, parents didn’t even have to make dinner, taco in a bag or bowl was provided. A special thank you goes out to all parents and students that participated in AVID Family Night.
