April 23: A Message from Superintendent Jett
Dear St. Cloud Area Schools Families, Staff, and Students,
Today Governor Walz announced the closure of our schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year through Executive Order 20-41. We are saddened that we won’t be able to welcome students back to our buildings but understand the Governor’s commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our teachers, staff, and administrators, we are prepared to continue delivery of instruction through Distance Learning. We remain committed to providing rigorous academic experiences and meaningful connections with each of our students through the end of the school year.
During these uncertain times, we strive to provide you with clear and timely communication. Below is important information on what to expect for the remainder of the school year.
-
St. Cloud Area Schools will follow our adopted school calendar which designates May 29 as our final day of instruction.
-
The Minnesota State High School League has cancelled all Spring Activities.
-
The Governor mandated May 1 and May 4 as non-instructional days for students and state-wide, mandatory professional development days for staff.
-
Meal delivery and childcare for emergency workers will be provided on May 1 and May 4.
In the upcoming days, district and building administration will communicate additional important details. We are collaborating with staff, families, and students to create contingency plans for important end of year events such as graduation.
Thank you to our students for their adaptability, resilience, and hard work and to our families for supporting learning at home during these unusual times. We appreciate your partnership.
Willie Jett
Superintendent
