Advanced Geometry Classes Learn From Professionals
Whitney Lougheed, architect from IIW Minnesota and Kyle Walter, construction manager from ICS Consulting recently visited with geometry students. Students had been learning about similarity, proportions, scale models, and scale drawings.
Whitney and Kyle had a wonderful presentation of where they use these concepts in their careers. Whitney showed and explained how proportion is needed when designing buildings. Kyle brought the blue prints they use on the construction site for the new Tech High School.
They explained how they work together to design the actual building. Students were able to see a scale model of one of the learning neighborhoods as well as scale drawings/models on Whitney's computer program.
Students were thankful Kyle and Whitney took time to come talk to them about the new school. There were many great learning moments and questions during the short time they were in our classroom.
