Important Update from Kennedy Community School
Dear Kennedy Community:
I am writing to inform you that the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has identified positive cases of COVID-19 at Kennedy Community School. Consequently, the COVID District Response Team has met and reviewed the current impact of COVID-19 on Kennedy Community School.
As positive case counts in our counties continue to rise, the district is closely monitoring the health status of each school learning community in order to make timely, responsible decisions for each individual site. Kennedy currently has multiple staff members and students in quarantine due to COVID positive status, symptoms, or exposure. The number of staff absences are creating daily challenges in maintaining school operations. At this time, we have received staffing support from other district sites and are able to continue in our hybrid learning model.
However, because the health situation in our school could change rapidly, we may need to transition between models quickly to address ongoing health or staffing concerns, and we want families to be prepared in the event we need to transition to distance learning.
The health and safety of our learning community remains our top priority, and we have implemented and refined rigorous health protocols that help limit the transmission of COVID-19 inside of our schools, particularly our elementary schools. You will be notified if your child is identified as a close contact of the COVID positive cases. If you are not notified that your child has had close contact with the COVID positive cases, you should still monitor for symptoms of illness. If symptoms develop, stay home and consult with your health care provider to determine if medical evaluation is needed. For more information on what to do if you or your child becomes sick, see the Symptoms Decision Tree on our website: https://www.isd742.org/cms/lib/MN01909691/Centricity/domain/2794/resources/Symptoms%20Decision%20Tree.pdf or visit the MDH website If You Are Sick: COVID-19: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/sick.html. If you have questions, contact our school nurse, Jess Voss at 320.370.
Thank you for your continued support and efforts to keep our school community safe and healthy.
