Central Minnesota Virtual Academy (CMVA)
Your Pace, Place & Space
Central Minnesota Virtual Academy (CMVA) is an online learning program certified by the Minnesota Department of Education for students in grades 9-12.
Students have the option to enroll in either a full-time or part-time online learning environment.
With CMVA, high school students have more flexibility to choose their pace, place and space!

Current District 742 Student CMVA Options
Option 1: Full-Time CMVA
- Fully online
- Students take all classes online through CMVA.
- Asynchronous platform
Option 1: Part-Time CMVA
- Hybrid
- Students take come classes in person at their home school (Tech, Apollo, McKinley) and online through CMVA.
Non-District 742 Student CMVA Options
Option 1: Full-Time CMVA
- Fully online
- Students take all classes online through CMVA.
- Asynchronous platform
- Students must open enroll in District 742 at the Welcome Center.
Option 2: Part-Time CMVA
- Hybrid
- Students take some classes in person at a District 742 school (Tech, Apollo, McKinley) and online through CMVA.
- Students must open enroll in District 742 at the Welcome Center.
Option 3: Part-Time CMVA
- Supplemental
- Students stay enrolled in their home district and take some classes supplementally online through CMVA.

Laura Freese, Assistant Principal
Laura Freese
Assistant Principal
Laura Freese is in her fifth year as an assistant principal. She started her post-high school educational journey at St. Cloud State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, in addition to a Middle School Endorsement with an emphasis on math.
In 1998, she began teaching part-time in the Little Falls School District as a math assurance of mastery teacher. Freese was hired by the St. Cloud Area School District in 2000 as a math teacher at South Junior High. By 2005, she earned her Master's of Education in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University. She taught at South Junior High for 15 years before being hired as an academic coach. She served as an academic coach for the next five years at Clearview Elementary School, Kennedy Community School and then at Apollo High School. Freese earned her K-12 Principal Licensure in the spring of 2019.
Laura Freese is inspired by the creativity, compassion, and intellect the young scholars of Central MN Virtual Academy bring to the school community. She is dedicated to creating a safe and caring environment where all students and staff can thrive and grow to their fullest potential.
