Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Kelly Meyer

I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I graduated with a BFA from St Cloud State University in 2004. I've been a practicing artist ever since and have held many teaching roles in the community, including through the Paramount Center for the Arts, Great River Regional Library, Wacosa, Independent Lifestyles LLC to name a few. I love working with students of all ages and abilities. Madison is my first public school position and I am so excited to be here and working with such amazing students!

  • My core beliefs:

    • EVERYONE is creative. Creativity is both a skill and a process. It's something you can learn. And like any other skill, it's something you can get better at through practice and repeated use.
    • Creativity isn't just for artists. Many people don't realize that they use creativity skills every day- from organizing your room, to cooking, to figuring out how to solve a problem. Scientists, mathematicians, and parents all thrive when they strengthen their creativity muscles.
    • Art is about more than creating. It teaches students about different cultures, social justice, collaboration, self reflection, builds hand-eye coordination, and teaches students how to express themselves visually and verbally, to name a few.
