Welcome to Orchestra at North Junior High!

In Orchestra, we learn the foundational elements of playing string instruments and performing individually and together in an ensemble.  We will play our instruments every day and students will be expected to come to class prepared and ready to play!  The core elements of the class include individualized instrument study, ensemble performance, music theory, history, composition, and analyzing music.  Specific units of study include knowledge of music, care and maintenance of our instruments, individual and group performances, and creating and responding to music.  All Orchestra students perform in two concerts, one in December and one in May.  The Intermediate and Advanced Orchestras perform in January with Kennedy Community School and Apollo High School at the annual Northside Orchestra Concert at Apollo High School.

Information and updates for families detailing each course's announcements, events, lessons, handouts, and other materials can be found online through my Schoology course pages.  Parents who would like access to this information need to attain a parent access code for each of their students, which is provided at the beginning of the school year or when students enroll.  If you do not already have a parent access code, please contact me via e-mail.

For students, the best way to get in contact with me is by using the Messenger tool through Schoology.  For families, the best way to contact me is by e-mail.

Talent doesn't grow on trees.  It grows in Orchestra.
