A Little Bit About Me
I grew up in Grand Rapids. I received my teaching degree from Bemidji State University. My first 5 years of teaching were spent in a multi-age (2nd -3rd & 4th grade) classroom on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In 2007, I received my Masters in Education from St. Mary's University. In 2016, I received my second Masters. This time in Curriculum Instruction with a K-12 Reading Specialist License from Concordia University. I have taught in District 742 since 1998. My husband and I have two children Kendra and Drew. When I am not at school, I enjoy quilting and doing a variety of crafts. As a family we enjoy camping, and spending time together. I believe the classroom should be a warm consistent environment where students know they are safe and can feel comfortable enough to make mistakes and learn from them. Teaching is an adventure every single day! Helping students reach their potential and become independent learners is an honor and a privilege for me. After 26 years of teaching, I believe that together (parent, child, & teacher) we can ensure success for every student.
