    The Board of Education is composed of seven members elected to serve overlapping terms. The Superintendent of Schools serves as the ex-officio member of the Board without the right to vote. The election of Board members occurs on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November during even-numbered years, and all members are elected at large. New board members take office effective the first Monday in January, following the election.

    Meetings

    The Board of Education meets regularly twice monthly on the second Wednesday (work session) and the fourth Thursday (business meeting) unless otherwise noted. A brief Board of Education meeting (with consent agenda) held prior to the start of the monthly work sessions if needed. The monthly work sessions are held at 6:30 p.m. at the District Administration Office, Conference Room A, 1000 N. 44th Ave., St. Cloud. Public input is heard at this time with the agenda immediately following.

    Monthly meeting are held at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Cloud City Hall Council Chambers, 400 S. 2nd Street, St. Cloud. Business meetings are broadcast live on Charter cable channel 187 and re-broadcast on subsequent Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:00 p.m. These Meetings are also streamed live on our website.     Meetings of the Board of Education are open to the public. In instances when a special meeting must be called to consider official School District business, which needs immediate attention and cannot be postponed to the next regularly scheduled meeting, the public will be informed.

    Actions

    The Board must have a quorum of four members present before it can take official action. Most Board actions may be approved by a simple majority of the membership present.

    The Board has final authority, subject only to the limitations of state and federal laws and regulations and Board of Education policies.

    Community members who are unable to attend Board of Education meetings are encouraged to prepare written documents that are to be submitted to the Board of Education by the Superintendent of Schools and/or Board Chairperson. Written communication may be sent to the following address:
