Learning in a Digital Environment
Students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to explore learning in a digital environment. The purpose behind this path is to expand education beyond the traditional classroom. Students are able to interact with the content as well as each other anytime and anywhere with accesses to a variety of media to support their success. Likewise, it allows teachers to interact with their students in multiple ways. Teachers can post material to support learners while collecting student work digitally, making it easier to assess and return work. Finally, teachers can easily offer digital assessments that can be self-grading, allow instruction to be adjusted based on results.
Students and teachers in grades 6-12 will have access to Schoology, one of the premier LMS (Learning Managment Systems) available to schools. Students can access their classroom resources via their iPad (6-8) or laptop (9-12). Within Schoology, teachers can host virtual discussions, give and collect assignments, conduct both formative and summative assessments and so much more.
Students and teachers are also able to utilize G Suites (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc...) for collaborative and creative work. Using tools that are available in Google, students can share their ideas and work with other students and with their teachers. Learners are able to open and edit their writings on most devices and receive feedback in real time. Students and teachers are encouraged to make use of both resources to help students be successful.
