Degrees and Certifications:
I am a DHH teacher first, University of MN student second, and crazy crafty lady third!
This is my first year teaching and I achieved my dream job as a Deaf and hard of hearing teacher in St. Cloud District #742. I am an itinerant teacher and do not service a classroom, but instead bounce from school to school meeting needs in the community. I have a passion for education, a love of learning, and determination to instill those qualities into every child or student I meet. I have come full circle. I started my schooling at Lincoln Elementary and now excited to spend the rest of my life doing what I love: I am St. Cloud proud!
I have always had a passion for school and have been a student for the past decade and still am! I am finishing my second year in my master's degree for Deaf Education at the University of MN in the Twin Cities and plan to graduate in May 2017. I also hold a bachelor's of science degree in Biochemistry and minor in American Sign Language from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my huge and growing family. I have 10 nieces and nephews, the youngest two are now 5 years old and in Kindergarten. I have always enjoyed watching them grow, and spend my free time in heated lightsaber fights or creating the coolest coloring pages. My family officially grows January 14, 2017 as I get married. If you see Amber Mayers in the upcoming months - I am still the same teacher, just sporting a new last name!
