Hello. My name is Mrs. Mathiason. This is my fifth year at Discovery and eighth year teaching since graduating from Minnesota State University Moorhead. I am the Media Specialist and Technology Integrationist at Discovery. After graduating from high school, I joined the AmeriCorps program in Wausau, WI where I tutored in grades Pre-K through 5th grade and did community service. My first year teaching was in Mora, MN as a 6th Grade Science and Social Studies teacher. I then moved to St. Cloud and taught 3rd Grade for two years at Madison Elementary. During my years of teaching, I have also coached volleyball at the Middle School level and JO traveling level.
Some of my interests and hobbies include quilting, sewing, fishing, hunting, traveling, playing sports, and spending time with family. I have 3 brothers, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews. My parents live in Buckman, MN where I grew up, they are still very involved with our High School which is Pierz Healy High. I have a 6-year-old daughter named Julianna, a 3-year-old named Evelyn and a 3 month old named Clara. We can already tell that they are going to be best friends! I absolutely love being a mommy!
I am so excited for this school year! We have a lot of fun things planned for students and families.
