Flexible E-Learning Day Resources

  • St. Cloud Area School District uses Flexible E-Learning Days so that  students can still engage in learning during inclement weather (snow) days. On a Flexible E-Learning Day, students in grades K-12 will continue learning from home, with support from their teachers, instead of going to school. Teachers will share curriculum-aligned assignments and be accessible by email during regular school hours in order to provide learning support to students.

Flexible E-Learning Days are intended to counter the loss of curriculum momentum resulting from school cancellations due to Minnesota’s winter weather conditions. Flexible E-Learning Days cannot replace the face-to-face time students have with their teachers, but they can provide better learning continuity when school is interrupted. Flexible E-Learning Days also negate the need for makeup school days in June, helping families more effectively plan summer activities.

When are Flexible E-Learning Days Used?

The first five weather related closings will be shifted to Flexible E-Learning Days as long as there is no interruption of power and/or internet service that would interfere with distance learning. Additional weather related school closing days will be determined by the Superintendent and makeup time for students and/or staff will be determined by the Superintendent in consultation with the School Board.

*Please be aware:  if your child is sick and unable to complete Flexible E-Learning Day learning activities, a parent/guardian must still call the school attendance line to report an absence.

  • Preschool

Pre-school students will access and complete a series of preassigned learning activities that will be made available to students in home packets when predicted weather conditions make school closing likely. These packets are also available below.
