Equity Services Programs
International Student Presenters
The goal of the International Student Presenters program is to provide the school district with a resource that will enhance the global understanding for all students and staff. International students from St. Cloud State University present information about their culture and/or country as it relates to the subject area suggested. The students are prepared to address many topics ranging from the education system in their country, history, art, cultural, traditions, music and their contemporary lifestyle.
Parents in Action
This program helps parents learn how to create a positive and lasting educational environment at home using a number of proven academic success tools: dedicating a home study location and time of day for homework; creating ongoing dialogue with their children surrounding their academic successes and challenges and discussing their children’s college expectations. Parents in Action program occurs in two schools every fall and spring during the school year for a duration of seven weeks. The program is facilitated by trained contracted consultants. The curriculum was purchased by the school district in the 2012-13 school year. Since then, the program has been at Lincoln, Madison, Talahi, Discovery, Oak Hill, North and South, and has served parents of all ethnicities. The district has been extremely successful engaging parents from many ethnic backgrounds, but has been the most successful attracting Somali families.
