On Tuesday, April 28, while juniors are taking the ACT and freshmen and sophomores are participating in the Career Event, seniors have a unique opportunity to participate in one of several options to further their preparation for post-secondary life.

Seniors will not attend school on April 28, but will be required to choose and arrange one meaningful educational experience, from the list of options, to fulfill the requirements of their day. Students will then fill out a form, attend their experience, have a parent sign the form and return the form to their planning room teacher.

Please plan fully which of the following options you will choose and arrange on April 28 to complete your experience. You may take the opportunity to:

• visit a post-secondary school of your choice

• job shadow in your desired career area

• perform community service at your chosen organization

• search and apply for scholarships

• search for employment

• be involved in a study group

You will need to make your own arrangements by contacting the college, job, or community service organization of your choice and setting up the experience you desire. You may also speak with your guidance counselor regarding the scholarship application process, if you have not already done so.

Please work with your family, counselors and/or other staff to take full advantage of this unique educational opportunity!

If you, or your family, have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor. Thank you.
